Southampton's housing mix runs from Victorian terrace in Bevois Valley and Portswood to large post-war estates and modern waterside apartments. We work the Southampton suburbs regularly, particularly the eastern side closer to the M27 — Bitterne, Woolston, Sholing — where the run from Portsmouth is shortest.

Bevois Valley, Portswood and St Denys have a high concentration of Victorian and Edwardian terrace, much of it in HMO use. Slipped slates, lead flashing failure and tired chimney mortars are the regular jobs. Many of these terraces share parapet walls, which need careful detailing on any re-roof — we treat parapet party walls properly with code 4/5 lead and proper cavity trays.

Highfield and the streets around the university are dominated by larger Victorian and Edwardian detached and semi-detached property. Original slate roofs are common and many are reaching the end of their original life. We will quote sympathetic re-slating in natural Welsh slate or, where budget is tighter, a like-for-like recovering in Spanish slate that performs equivalently.

Bitterne, Sholing, Woolston and Weston have a higher proportion of inter-war and post-war stock — concrete tile, uPVC roofline, standard suburban roofs. Fascia/soffit/gutter strip-and-replace is the most common job here, alongside the occasional flat-roof extension recover in EPDM.

Shirley and the western side of the city we cover for quoted work but it is at the further end of our travel area. SO16 and SO15 jobs are quoted with a slightly longer survey turnaround than Portsmouth or Fareham, simply due to travel.

Southampton storm callouts are within working hours and on a longer response time than the immediate Portsmouth area. For active leaks in SO14-SO19 during working hours we will attend, but typical response is 3-4 hours rather than the 1-2 hours we run on home turf.

We do not work on multi-storey commercial roofs or apartment blocks above three storeys; the residential side of Southampton is what we cover.

Neighbourhoods we work regularly: Portswood, Bevois Valley, Highfield, Bitterne, Woolston, Sholing, Shirley.

Local landmarks: Southampton Common, Old Town, Ocean Village, St Mary's Stadium.
